How to celebrate New Year's Eve in Seville 2023? Here you will find all the information you need to celebrate the arrival of the New Year in the Andalusian capital
We are already in the middle of December, and we are starting to plan our New Year's Eve. In Seville, the usual thing is to have dinner with the family and then go out to celebrate in its beautiful streets. Seville has a “special colour”.
During the Christmas holidays, Seville becomes even more special than usual. The Christmas markets, the lights that decorate the city, the smell of chestnuts and the carols, create a magical atmosphere of illusion.
New Year's Eve is a great collective celebration, there are many good reasons why Seville is a special destination for Christmas and New Year's Eve. Here are just a few of them.
As we mentioned earlier, Seville is decked out to welcome Christmas and the New Year.
The centre of the capital is full of lights, from the Avenida Constitución to the Campana.
In the Plaza de San Francisco, as has become customary, you can see a spectacle of lights and music. The show is known as Templo de la Luz (Temple of Light) and lasts 10 minutes. It is held every half hour from 18:30 to 23:00, until 6 January 2023.
And, there is no Christmas without its fir trees, scattered in different parts of the city, such as Puerta Jerez, Plaza Cuba, Plaza de San Francisco, Santa Justa Station and Emilio Lemos (in Sevilla Este).
Another reason why Seville is an ideal place to spend the Christmas holidays is because of its markets. Some of them are:
Christmas Market: From the 15th of December to the 5th of January in the heart of the city, in Plaza Nueva.
La Feria del Belén: The Feria del Belén is open from 5 November to 23 December in the city centre, next to the Cathedral and the Archivo de Indias.
The Zoco del Parque María Luisa: Although this event is held monthly, between 17 and 18 December, the Zoco del Parque de María Luisa will host its Christmas edition, which includes a visit from elves and Christmas activities for children, such as writing letters to the Three Wise Men.
Another Sevillian tradition is the visit to the nativity scenes. Here is a list of the most famous ones:
And if you come with children or you feel like doing something different this Christmas, stop by one of these Christmas parks, we are sure you will have fun.
Sevilla On Ice: The Christmas theme park Sevilla on Ice is located in the Muelle de las Delicias. Open from the 24th of November until the 8th of January. In addition to the attractions, it also offers an ice rink, a Christmas circus and a musical based on the Movida years.
Sevillalandia: This is the largest indoor leisure park in Spain, with more than 23,000 square metres of space inside the Palacio de Exposiciones y Congresos de Sevilla (Fibes).
Finally, on New Year's Eve, we bring you a unique and entertaining plan. To enjoy the art and gastronomy of Seville.
Welcome 2023 in a flamenco tablao!
On the 31st of December enjoy a unique night at the Gran Gala Special New Year's Eve, which we celebrate at El Palacio Andaluz, from 21:30h.
You will enjoy a pure and traditional flamenco show, performed by a great cast of dancers, guitarists, singers and “palmeros”. Leading figures such as Emilio Ramírez 'El Duende', an artist whose professional career has been recognised with several prizes and awards.
The dinner includes our usual and elaborate special menu, paired with a selected wine list. You will welcome the new year with the traditional Spanish lucky grapes and start 2023 with a great party, with live music animated by the orchestra 'El Embrujo'. There will be an open bar, chocolate and cakes to end the celebration.
